GEORGE WASHINGTON'S MOUNT VERNON COLLECTION HIGHLIGHTS NEW INTRODUCTIONS AT TAYLOR KING

TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. - Taylor King, innovative manufacturer of high end, handcrafted upholstered furniture, will unveil several new introductions within each of its signature lines and launch a new licensed collection of upholstery at High Point Furniture Market in March. The company's extensive introductions will include over 200 new fabrics and coordinating trims, as well as more than 40 new frame styles. Taylor King's showroom will boast its most distinguished collection of fine upholstery to date.

A new collection celebrates presidential style
The launch of Mount Vernon, a new collection of frames and fabrics inspired by the home of the first president, George Washington, represents a collaboration between Taylor King and the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association, which has worked to preserve the home of Washington and his wife, Martha, since 1853. The furniture manufacturer has worked closely with the Association to integrate inspirational cues from architectural details and historical artifacts of the estate into a new collection styled for today's consumer.

The Mount Vernon collection showcases more than 20 styles suitable for multiple areas of the home, including bedrooms, formal living rooms, casual dens and libraries. Valdese Weavers, a weaver of fine upholstery fabrics located in Valdese, N.C., developed several fabrics exclusive to Taylor King. Each piece exhibits an unrivaled attention to detail and signature heirloom quality. Subtle details include George Washington's cipher on nail head trim and his signature woven into the deck material beneath down-filled seating.

Taylor King will showcase the new collection in a devoted area of the showroom that evokes the decor and architectural designs seen on the estate. Highlights of the collection include a 92" sofa with high shelter arms and a full roll edge extending completely around the outer back. Another piece expands a corner chair into a full chaise with a traditional turned leg. The new corner chaise is a perfect accent piece for a bedroom or sunroom.

The upholstery styles featured in the Mount Vernon collection are designed and scaled for today's homes, rather than strictly period reproductions. Chippendale camelback sofas and settees are not included in the collection. However, one chair is a near-replica of an occasional piece found in the new Museum at Mount Vernon. Visually identical to the historical artifact upon which it is based, the new introduction has been designed with a taller and deeper seat, dictated by the demands of today's consumer.

Taylor King continues to innovate in the recliner category
Combining the latest in motion technology with traditional and trendy looks in leather and fabric upholstery, Taylor King demonstrated at the October 2006 High Point Market that motorized press back recliners need not sacrifice style for comfort. In March, Taylor King will go even further to demonstrate this point by offering the motorized press back mechanism in one of its popular chaise styles. The unit will also be available in an identical recliner and matching ottoman combination. With a hidden mechanism activator, the recliners uphold the company's commitment to high-end styling. However, unlike most recliners, Taylor King's press back motorized mechanism allows the development of large scale club chairs that can accommodate customers whose heights may range from 6'2" to 6'6" tall.

Taylor King Occasional
For TKO, Taylor King will continue to expand upon its collection of hand-painted accent furniture, introducing Cornel, a cocktail table with gold trim, and Adamas, a wood credenza. TKO will also introduce two new groups of metal and glass designs, including the tea cart Sultana.

Kings Road
Kings Road also expands its offering of more moderately priced upholstered furniture with several stylish chair styles designed to complement the collection's extensive sofa and sleep sofa style choices. One style features a tall, tufted back with nail trim and shaker style legs on casters. Another chair choice is more transitional with track arms, tight back and deep seating.

The Best of the Rest
Among other highlights, Taylor King has updated its popoular sofa Emerson into a new sectional. The extra deep sectional features a tall back and continues a popular trend in Taylor King’s collections of sofas styled with incredible comfort. Also, a new transitional settee with exposed wood rails represents an expansion of the Hobnob armless chair, introduced in October 2006. This "modern elegance" settee will be adorned with a leopard design executed on cut velvet and highlighted by rayon boucle.
