MOUNT VERNON HIGHLIGHTS NEW FABRIC SELECTIONS AT TAYLOR KING

Taylor King will introduce a series of diverse new fabrics at High Point Market in March. Creatively mixing transitional and traditional patterns, the manufacturer of high end, hand-crafted upholstered seating and occasional furniture will debut more than 200 new fabrics, leathers and coordinating trims, including an exclusive upholstery line developed for its new Mount Vernon collection.

In signature style, Taylor King again addresses a wide variety of new and exciting color palettes.  An intriguing combination of a rich brown and claret red is featured in two room vignettes.   A three-setting area features the colors of chocolate brown, camel and a lighter spa blue. Also, vintage patterns mix with more transitional looks in Taylor King's first licensed collection, George Washington's Mount Vernon.

Colonial Style for the 21st Century
Inspired by the home of the first American president, George Washington, and his wife, Martha, the Mount Vernon collection is a series of more than 20 upholstered pieces Taylor King plans to showcase. Taylor King worked closely with the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association to create the fabrics and styles for the collection, taking inspirational cues from the estate and styling patterns for today’s consumer. Valdese Weavers, a weaver of fine upholstery fabrics located in Valdese, N.C., developed several fabrics exclusive to Taylor King.

Interpreted with handsome selections and unexpected pairings of fabrics, each piece exhibits an unrivaled attention to detail and signature heirloom quality. A fabric woven with George Washington's signature replaces the traditional seat deck cover on each upholstered piece. Another matelassé fabric, Insignia Gold (A), reproduces a cipher replicated directly from the silver cap of George Washington’s riding crop. Also, with great depth of color, Mansion Tapestry (B) pays homage to a lithograph of the East view of Mount Vernon, which was published in 1859 to aid the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association in its fundraising campaign to purchase the historic home.

Other highlights of the collection include several fabrics that take inspiration from Mount Vernon's Lafayette bedroom, including a red and off-white houndstooth and an updated Jacobean floral in federal colors. Another standout is a textured stripe that defines Washington’s interest in architecture. The heart-shaped scroll on this fabric is inspired by a carved lintel in the Central Passage in the Mansion.

Cherry-Chocolate Delights
Deep wines, claret reds and cherry tones are paired with dark browns throughout Taylor King’s showroom for what the furniture manufacturer has termed a trend in "Cherry-Chocolate." Entourage Cherry Chocolate (C), a matelassé damask with fleur-de-lis pattering, is featured in the showroom alongside a rich brown silk paisley pattern, Palampur Pomegranate (D). In Bon Bon Paisley (E), the Cherry-Chocolate combination adopts aspects of en vogue men’s fashion with sophisticated paisleys.

Embossed and Embellished
Also this season across the showroom, diverse textures and ornate patterns command attention. From embellished leather King Croco Buckskin (F) to Vintage Reptile Tundra (G), featuring an embossed alligator pattern in a deep olive shade, a polished sophistication defines the overall look of the collection. A more traditional motif finds flourish with striking embroidery and detailed beading accenting the jeweled burnt orange silk of feature fabric Magnificent Amber (H).

Vibrant Drama
In prints, patterns and pairings across the showroom, Taylor King displays it signature style of vibrant drama for upholstered seating. With a Batik look, Zanzibar Linen (I) brings big drama with an ethnic print complemented by a loop-de-loop textured fabric and a coordinating stripe in a spice-toned setting. Verona Garnet (K) boldly pairs deep olive with a rusty red featuring a raised velvet pattern with contrast stitching. Coordinating Kalliope Stripe (J) is a cut velvet pattern with multiple textures and dimension. Wrought iron-inspired print Mesmerize Lagoon (L) creates bold simplicity in a two-toned openwork print.

Spa Blue Redux
As the color carries forward with popularity, Taylor King updates the spa blue look by lightening the palette and pairing it with shades of camel and chocolate, as shown in Lanoria Tapestry (N). Settings throughout the showroom feature fresh shades of spa blue used both as accents and primary upholstery. Spa blue dominates in a linen embroidered floral pattern called Gigi Blue (O). Accent fabric Pigna Bayou (M) interprets the new blue in accent stitching for the pinecone pattern.

Don't miss this season's fresh set of fabrics, frames, and occasional pieces from Taylor King. The Taylor King showroom, located on the 2nd floor of High Point’s 200 Steele Building, encompasses 15,000 square feet of space and exemplifies the elegant and creative spirit of Taylor King.
