New from Taylor King: Favorites from High Point Spring Market

Taylorsville, N.C. -- Taylor King, long known for its dynamic traditional fabrics and frame styles, branched out for the 2008 Spring High Point Market with a diverse collection of transitional and contemporary styles. The company also featured exciting new traditional frames, making this season's presentation more diverse and complete than ever.

"We saw a very positive response to our expanded transitional collection," said Del Starnes, President of Taylor King Furniture. "At the same time, our new traditional sofas and chairs got a great reception. It's very gratifying to see all of our collections, from soft modern to traditional to the new French-inspired designs of the Mt. Vernon Collection so well received."

In Harmony: Focus on Sustainability and the Environment

Taylor King is committed to the preservation of our environment, and the company presented a premium line of eco-friendly fabrics at market. With high style and low-impact on the earth, the new Harmony fabrics are made from post-consumer and post industrial materials such as recycled plastic bottles, recycled yarns and earth-friendly fibers like natural bamboo.

"We have always been green to the extent that our pieces are crafted to last a lifetime," said Tanya Comer. "These are pieces that can be handed down from generation to generation, not handed over to the landfill. Now we are not only focused on reducing waste, but we're also focused on smart and green business practices and increasing the number of quality products that are made of post consumer and post industrial materials."

"This market also gave us the opportunity to share more about the strides Taylor King has made in making sure that our furniture manufacturing and waste dispoal methods are as environmentally responsible as possible," said Del Starnes, President of Taylor King. "Taylor King has historically supported the community, being one of the largest locally owned and operated businesses in Alexander County, North Carolina. We see this focus on environmental stewardship as an extension of our commitment to protect the beauty of the surrouncing foothills of the Appalachian Mountains."

Soft Modern Success

In response to the overwhelming reception of its growing transitional category last fall, Taylor King was pleased with cutomers' reception to the even larger introduction of many modern designs this spring.

The new McClure sofa debuted this market as an exciting new design in Taylor King's soft modern collection. Its unique cut-out back and gently flaired legs offer an interesting modern twist to this comfortable sofa. The McClure retails for $2995.00.

Another new addition to Taylor King's soft modern category is the Santorini banquette . Crafted with a unique, hand rubbed, brush metallic leather, the Santorini banquette adds a striking contemporary touch to the dining area. The Santorini retails for $3795.00.

Keeping the Tradition

Popular new introductions in the traditional category this market included the exuberantly designed and accessorized Bernal and Toreador sofas. The Bernal sofa, reminiscent of a Moroccan design, features a decorative scalloped back and arms. Hundreds of individual applied decorative nails turn this bench seat sofa into a true work of art. The Bernal retails for $4995.

Among the most striking of Taylor King's new introductions was the Toreador conversation sofa, a grand three-piece sectional that measures an enthusiastic 160" in combined length. The Toreador features a vintage trunk leather, multiple decorative fabrics, and angel hair bullion with matching fringe and decorative rope tassels. The Toreador retails for $12,995.00.

French Inspired Additions to the Mt. Vernon Collection

George Washington's enduring friendship with Marquis de Lafayette provided the inspiration for a collection of three new sofa styles and many new chairs this market.

The Adrienne swivel vanity stool, another French-inspired addition to the Mt. Vernon Collection, epitomizes the delicate design that makes this collection so unique. The Adrienne retails for $995.00.

Additional new features in the Mt. Vernon Collection included the George Washington swivel desk chair and a tight back wing chair. Both chairs feature a unique hand tooled design and hand stained leather, marking these two dramatic pieces as truly unique additions to any home.

The Bastille wing chair features an embossed engraving of George Washington's book plate, a labeling device for his extensive book collection. The insignia contains the Latin phrase "exitus acta probat," translated as "the end proves the deed". The Bastille retails for $2995.00.
