The Mount Vernon collection is inspired by the refined taste of America’s most famous general and president, George Washington. Over a period of forty years, Washington not only expanded and furnished Mount Vernon, his beloved home on the banks of the Potomac River in Virginia, but also landscaped the immense estate, using the exterior acreage as part of a large, well-considered artistic plan.

Privately funded, the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association purchased the estate in 1858, and has faithfully restored Washington’s home to its original appearance. A portion of the proceeds for the sale of The Mount Vernon Collection goes toward the continued preservation efforts of the Association.
